To celebrate National Apple Day Barnfield's horticulture group were loaned an apple crusher and press from Vigo in Dunkeswell.
The proceedings were led by horticulture staff Phil Foggitt and Horticulture project leader Chris Barron. With the group all very eager to make apple juice they split up into teams to pick, sort, wash and, crush and press the apple juice. Everyone had a taste of the first apples pressed and was very pleased with the results. At the end of the 2 days the team had made over 50 pints of fresh Organic Barnfield Farm Apple Juice.
This is now being enjoyed by the people who attend the horticulture project as well as residents of Barnfield Farm. Barnfield's aim is to grown as much of our its produce and to become less reliant on the supermarkets, therefore saving money and reducing CO2 emissions.
