“Prioritising what people do during the day (and evening and weekends)” – Valuing People Now

  • PERSONALISED LEARNING
  • INVENTIVE MODERN SERVICES
  • GUIDED PROGRESSION PATHWAYS
  • MEANINGFUL DESTINATIONS
  • STRUCTURED ACCREDITED LEARNING
  • PROFESSIONAL LEARNING GUIDES
  • ROCKET delivers accredited learning driven by people with a learning disability.

Learners are empowered to choose imaginative purposeful, pathways and activities that are firmly grounded in their daily lives.

Progression is marked by the award of nationally recognised skills units, within the Foundation Learning Tier.

Sessions are facilitated, professionally and collaboratively, by our talented, experienced, qualified staff.

    Personalised Learning

ROCKET delivers learning that is customised by each individual with a learning disability to realise key aims identified in their own person centred plan. ROCKET ensures the fullest possible engagement of each learner by:

  • nurturing learner entitlement, understanding and autonomy
  • pacing progression individually
  • promoting learning activities that are fun and social, as well as effective
  • Inventive Modern Services

ROC is developing modernised services based on these new learning opportunities, in collaboration with the Learning and Skills Council, ASDAN and many others.

ROCKET fulfils key aims of “Valuing People Now”, the latest government paper (www.dh.gov.uk), which identifies a key role for both the Foundation Learning Tier and “Getting a Life” Project.

    Guided Progression Pathways

ROCKET builds on our long track record of success in the provision of customised development pathways implemented in real situations.

ROCKET sessions are delivered as purposeful home, community and work based learning activities. These offer plentiful opportunities for learning, building self-esteem, and recognising progression and achievement.

    Meaningful Destinations

ROCKET ensures that learning outcomes contribute towards achieving each person’s own person centred plan, particularly where the outcomes mark a progression towards supported employment or independent living.

    Structured Accredited Learning

ROCKET adds an externally moderated accreditation to the life-brokerage work for which ROC is already renowned. The Foundation Learning Tier enables people to accumulate nationally recognised credits as a transferable portfolio covering:

  • personal and social development
  • numeracy, literacy and ICT skills
  • vocational and subject skills
  • Professional Learning Guides

ROC’s dedicated, enthusiastic and qualified staff team, support each learner’s success by:

  • guiding and coaching – rather than teaching or instructing
  • ensuring effective assessment, review and monitoring
  • closely liaising and collaborating with other professionals & carers
